Open Call – Join the GEF International Waters Data and Information Management (DIM) Task Force

18 Apr 2025 | by m-duque@unesco.org
IW:LEARN is pleased to announce the establishment of a dedicated Data and Information Management (DIM) Task Force to promote data consistency, accessibility and interoperability across the International Waters (IW) portfolio, during and beyond projects’ lifetimes.

Currently, DIM efforts across the IW portfolio are fragmented, primarily tied to individual projects. The DIM Task Force (DIM TF) would establish a more coordinated and long-term approach for managing data and information across the portfolio.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide recommendations on developing a strategic and coordinated approach to manage data and information across the GEF IW portfolio;
  • Share experiences and best practices on the application of standards and protocols;
  • Discuss appropriate indicators to address the gap between available and required data;
  • Showcase simplified, adaptable visualisation techniques to make data and information more accessible;
  • Strengthen collaboration and learning throughout the portfolio by facilitating the exchange of best practices, case studies and documents.

What we are looking for:

  • Data managers with a strong ability to design, maintain and optimize data systems, data sharing and visualization systems, tools and technologies
  • Users of datasets, indicators, maps and other data products for assessments and other products
  • Project managers responsible for defining the data and information requirements, infrastructure and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Open to members of GEF IW projects and external partners
  • Availability to participate in regular online meetings (TBC during first DIM Taskforce meeting)

If you’d like to improve how we manage and share data and information and have access to plenty of lessons learnt, we’d love to hear from you.

Note: Participation is on a voluntary basis. There is no remuneration or financial compensation associated with this role.
